Surah Rahman in Roman English
Surah Rahman, also known as “The Beneficent,” is a beautiful chapter of the Quran that highlights Allah’s endless mercy and blessings. It is the 55th surah and consists of 78 verses. Known for its excellent rhythmic and poetic nature. Surah Rahman repeatedly asks the question, “Fabi ayyi ala-i rabbikuma tukazziban” (Which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?), showing gratitude for Allah’s countless blessings.

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. Ar-Rahmaan
The Most Merciful.
2. ‘Allamal-Qur’aan
He taught the Quran.
3. Khalaqal-Insaan
He created man.
4. ‘Allamahul-Bayaan
He taught him speech.
5. Ash-Shamsu Wal-Qamaru Bi-Husbaan
The sun and the moon move by precise calculation.
6. Wan-Najmu Wash-Shajaru Yasjudaan
And the stars and trees prostrate.
7. Was-Samaa’a Rafa’ahaa Wa Wada’al Meezaan
And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance.
8. Alla Tatghaw Fil-Meezaan
That you do not transgress within the balance.
9. Wa Aqeemul-Wazna Bil-Qisti Wa La Tukhsirul Meezaan
And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.
10. Wal-Arda Wada’ahaa Lil-Anaam
And the earth He laid out for the creatures.
11. Feehaa Faakihatunw-Wan-Nakhlu Zaatul-Akmaam
In it are fruits and palm trees having sheaths [of dates].
12. Wal-Habbu Z’ul-Asfi War-Raihaan
And grain having husks and scented plants.
13. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
14. Khalaqal-Insaan Min Salsaalin Kal-Fakhkhaar
He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.
15. Wa Khalaqal-Jaann Mim Maarijim Min Naar
And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.
16. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
17. Rabbul-Mashriqayni Wa Rabbul-Maghribayn
[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.
18. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
19. Marajal Bahrayni Yaltaqiyaan
He released the two seas, meeting [side by side].
20. Bainahumaa Barzakhul Laa Yabghiyaan
Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses.
21. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
22. Yakhruju Minhumal Lu’lu’u Wal-Marjaan
From both of them emerge pearl and coral.
23. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
24. Wa Lahul-Jawaaril Munsha’aatu Fil-Bahri Kal-A’laam
And to Him belong the ships elevated in the sea like mountains.
25. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
26. Kullu Man ‘Alaihaa Faan
Everyone upon it [i.e., the earth] will perish.
27. Wa Yabqaa Wajhu Rabbika Zul-Jalaali Wal-Ikraam
And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
28. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
29. Yas’aluhu Man Fis-Samaawaati Wal-Ard; Kulla Yawmin Huwa Fee Shaan
Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is bringing about a matter.
30. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
31. Sanafrughu Lakum Ayyuhas-Saqalaan
We will attend to you, O prominent beings [i.e., mankind and jinn].
32. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
33. Yaa Ma’sharal-Jinni Wal-Insi Inis Tata’tum An Tanfuzoo Min Aqtaaris-Samaawaati Wal-Ardi Fanfuzoo; Laa Tanfuzoona Illaa Bisultaan
O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority.
34. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
35. Yursalu ‘Alaikumaa Shuazum Min Naarinw Wa Nuhaasun Falaa Tantasiraan
There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke, and you will not defend yourselves.
36. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
37. Fa-Izan Shaqqatis-Samaa’u Fakaanat Wardatan Kaddihaan
And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil.
38. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
39. Fa-Yawma’izin Laa Yus’alu ‘An Zambihee Insunw Walaa Jaan
Then on that Day, neither mankind nor jinn will be asked about his sin.
40. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
41. Yu’raful-Mujrimoona Biseemaahum Fa-Yu’khazu Bin-Nawaasi Wal-Aqdaam
The criminals will be known by their marks, and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet.
42. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
43. Haazihee Jahannamul-Latee Yukazzibu Bihaa Al-Mujrimoon
This is Hell, which the criminals deny.
44. Yatoofoona Bainahaa Wa Bainahameemim Aan
They will go around between it and scalding water, heated [to the utmost degree].
45. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
46. Wa Liman Khaafa Maqaama Rabbihi Jannataan
But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens.
47. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
48. Zawataa Afnaan
Having [spreading] branches.
49. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
50. Feehimaa ‘Aynaani Tajriyaan
In both of them are two springs flowing.
51. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
52. Feehimaa Min Kulli Faakihatin Zawjaan
In both of them are of every fruit, two kinds.
53. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
54. Muttaki’eena ‘Alaa Furushim Bataaa’inuhaa Min Istabraq; Wa Janal-Jannataini Daan
[They are] reclining on beds whose linings are of silk brocade, and the fruit of the two gardens is hanging low.
55. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
56. Feehinna Qaasiraatut-Tarfi Lam Yatmishhunna Insun Qablahum Walaa Jaan
In them are women limiting [their] glances, untouched before them by man or jinn.
57. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
58. Ka-Annahunna Al-Yaaqootu Wal-Marjaan
As if they were rubies and coral.
59. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
60. Hal Jazaa’ul-Ihsaani Illal-Ihsaan
Is the reward for good [anything] but good?
61. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
62. Wa Min Doonihimaa Jannataan
And below them both [in excellence] are two [other] gardens.
63. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
64. Mudhaammataan
Dark green [in color].
65. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
66. Feehimaa ‘Aynaani Naddakhaataan
In both of them are two springs, spouting.
67. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
68. Feehimaa Faakihatunw-Wa Nakhlunw Wa Rummaan
In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates.
69. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
70. Feehinna Khairaatun Hisaan
In them are good and beautiful women.
71. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
72. Hoorum Maqsooraatun Fil-Khiyaam
Fair ones reserved in pavilions.
73. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
74. Lam Yatmishhunna Insun Qablahum Walaa Jaan
Untouched before them by man or jinn.
75. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
76. Muttaki’eena ‘Alaa Rafrafin Khudrinw Wa ‘Abqariyyin Hisaan
Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets.
77. Fabi-Ayyi ‘Alaa’i Rabbikumaa Tukazzibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
78. Tabaarakasmu Rabbika Zil-Jalaali Wal-Ikraam
Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.
